Frequently Asked Questions

1) Where are you located?

Pequot Lakes, MN. Approximately 3 hours north of the Twin Cities.

2) Do you only work with gaited horses?

No. I also train non-gaited breeds. I think it is important to find a trainer(s) that rides the way you want your horse ridden, and go with that person. I focus on trail riding, softness in handle, and consistency in gaits. If that’s the type of training or lessons you’d like, feel free to give me a shout.

3) Can I visit my horse while he is in training with you?

Absolutely. This is welcome and encouraged. Lessons with you and your horse during his training are included in his training fee. Feel free to check in any time.

4) Do you have horses for sale?

Occasionally. Sale horses are either my own projects, or horses I get in on consignment. I am selective on what horses I accept, as it is my name and reputation on that horse. I will not help sell any “problem” horses, ie. bucking, rearing, bolting, pulling, or otherwise dangerous horses. I do not accept consignment horses with chronic health issues, and prefer not to sell untrained stock. A horse’s greatest chance at having a serviceable career and not being passed from home to home is good training. I firmly believe it is your duty as a horse owner to educate your horse or send him to a good trainer to give him the best possible chance at a good life. No horse owner wants their horse to end up in slaughter - so be a responsible horse owner and get him educated! Consignment spots are filled around my availability - if I have a full barn, I do not take consignments. Please contact me for consignment information if you would like help rehoming your equine friend.

If you are shopping for a horse, PLEASE understand, good horses take a lot of time and their price will reflect that.

If you have a smaller budget, you could consider adopting a horse from a rescue, or looking at a horse with special needs. For example, we have a 30 year old pony who suffered from laminitis for years. With proper management, he has been a valuable and serviceable part of our program for a long time. Don’t overlook a horse until you have explored good management options. Many of those horses are excellent horses.

6) Do you take trades?

No, I do not.

7) How do we contact you?

The best way to get in touch with me is a text. I can quickly check those and answer between horses, lessons, chores, and busy kids. If you’d like to chat via phone, you can request a phone call or leave a voicemail. Abbie - 218.839.0177
